this movie is so good. I honestly love to watch this movie. the soundtrack is great and you really connect with the characters
Tangled might not be my favorite Disney movie of all time (I absolutely despise CGI) but it is really underrated, especially because it's been compared to Frozen so many times. I mean, almost every time Frozen won - which is really wrong, because first of all I love Mother Gothel, but think Hans is the lamest villain of all time. But let's get on with the review (which, thankfully, mentions Frozen very few times.) *SPOILERS, DOES NOT REVEAL THE ENTIRE STORY OR THE ENDING The kingdom of Corona finally has something to celebrate about! The queen has been sick with a very rare disease, and the kingdom was getting desperate. The only cure was a magical golden flower, from the sun itself. The guards searched far and wide and finally found the flower. However, what they didn't know was that Mother Gothel was hoarding the flower, which had magical powers to make her young over and over again. When she accidentally revealed the flower and the guards "stole" it to cure the queen, Mother Gothel was rabidly angry. She would do anything to get her youth and health back. Meanwhile, when the Queen drank the medicine made from the flower, she became healthy again, and had a beautiful child, a daughter named Rapunzel. Rapunzel had beautiful green eyes, but more importantly, she had vibrant, endlessly long golden hair. However, one perfect night, she was stolen from her cradle by none other than Mother Gothel! Mother Gothel soon realizes Rapunzel's hair has the same healing powers as the flower, which can be activated when singing the same song that activated the flower's powers. (Confusing, I know.) Mother Gothel originally intended to take a lock of Rapunzel's hair, but learned that when she cut one lock off, it became brown and no longer worked. So she kidnapped Rapunzel and brought her to a secluded tower, where she stayed for almost eighteen long years. Fast-forward almost eighteen years later, and Rapunzel is still in her tower, being taught very false lessons about the world by Mother Gothel, who is determined to keep her prisoner in the tower at all times. Mothel Gothel's plan: To tell Rapunzel that there is quicksand and monsters and horrible human beings in the world outside and that she must never, ever go outside. Rapunzel still manages to survive by doing a lot of other indoor activities, but mostly painting. And on every birthday, she sees the same "stars," or lanterns as she later learns, and her wish for many years was to see them in person. She gets that opportunity when Flynn Rider, a handsome man (but the most wanted thief in Corona) needs a place to hide, and chooses her tower. (This is because he was being chased by the Palace Guards and the lead palace guard's very aggressive horse, Maximus, for stealing a princess' tiara and also being chased by his own allies, the Stabbington Brothers, who wants the tiara extremely desperately.) Rapunzel hits him with a frying-pan (BEST. WEAPON. EVER.) She hides the tiara in a place where Flynn will never find him, and tells him if that he takes her to see the lanterns, she will return the tiara. Beforehand convincing Mother Gothel to let Rapunzel stay in her tower for three days alone, they embark on their journey. Later, Mother Gothel finds out, suspiciously returns to the tower and finds Rapunzel gone! She is soon in close pursuit. After visiting such iconic places like the Ugly Duckling and narrowly missing being caught by the Palace Guards, Maximus, and the Stabbington Brothers, Rapunzel and Flynn finally make it to the palace. But what happens next? Will Rapunzel finally get to see the lanterns? Or will she unravel something bigger - and discover her true identity? Will she ever be free from Mother Gothel? The characters in this movie were just amazing and really perfect. Rapunzel was a totally gutsy, spunky and independent princess. Mother Gothel's voice is truly chilling and she is an amazing villain - can't believe anyone could be that greedy and vain - :SPOILER: when she stabs Flynn with that huge knife it is very thrilling.. Flynn is an amazing prince and changes from being a cocky thief to being a heartwarming, friendly, make-you-feel-all-warm-and-cuddly guy. I would rate this five stars - from the sing-alongy music and the heartwarming plot and awesome characters, to how this all came together! :) I love all Disney movies - okay, fine, even if it does use CGI like this one!
Pretty good movie, but my younger sister (is three) and I have been arguing for a quite a long time now about how the title is pronounced. She says Tamo while I say Tangled. But one thing we agree about this movie is that it's a good one.
