I originally had to read this book as a summer assignment for a class, but once I opened it, I simply couldn't put it down. From the start, you're immersed in O'Brien's world. At the time, he's a young man with his whole life ahead of him, sent to fight in the war in Vietnam. Through each of his stories, you're able to paint a picture of everyone he knew, the ones they loved and the ones they lost. Perhaps one of the most accurate depictions of life as a war veteran and an eye-opening recollection on American values, 'The Things They Carried' will make you experience a wide range of emotions, all the while rejuvenating your inner sense of patriotism.Over 5 years agobigmelo has joined a reading program.

Well-cooked mushrooms are also a good meat alternative. Some studies even suggest that fungi are more similar to meat than to vegetables. They require very little space to grow and are probably more efficient than raising bugs. Also, if you soak tree nuts, they produce more protein. Two soaked Brazilian nuts per day can take care of an adult's protein needs and give the most proper dose of selenium, which helps prevent cancer. (More than 2-3 per day can be bad for you, though!) There are a lot of healthy alternatives to meat, and not all of them will make you want to scream 'Ew!'Over 5 years agocrystalmori added a new comment in
Thank God. I'm so happy! I hope President Trump will agree to conditions which foster peace with North Korea, and I congratulate him on deciding to meet with Mr. Kim. This is a very exciting moment, and I wish to congratulate Mr. Moon and Mr. Kim as well. We support you in all your efforts towards peace!Over 6 years agolovelovelove42 added a new comment in

I think there may be several other things we can do. For one, we can recycle as much as possible. We can have gardens at home. That will save us from buying some food that has to be transported from far away. That way there will be fewer shipping trucks on the road and it can reduce pollution. We can compost food scraps. Go organic! It helps reduce the use of pesticides, which often can be harmful to the environment. What do you think?Over 7 years agocrystalmori added a new comment in
Let's get one thing straight here. Even if global warming WAS a hoax, we'd still run out of fossil fuels eventually and have to switch to clean, renewable energy. Switching at least some of our ways now could save our country hundreds of thousands of dollars in the future. Contrary to Trump's claims, it would support the economy long term, instead of restricting its growth.Over 7 years agocrystalmori replied to a comment in
Working on making renewable energy more popular, effective, and affordable could give our country an advantage in the world economy. Imagine if an American scientist came up with a breakthrough way to make clean energy--for cheap! We could then market it internationally, to countries who hadn't made that breakthrough yet. They would be willing to pay a lot more for cheap energy than they would want to spend developing an alternative. Closing the door to innovation is closing the door to progress. Please keep that in mind, President Trump! If we do not take the initiative to create a new way for ourselves, we may eventually wind up in the same position the other countries would be in if we were ahead of the game. Reducing incentive to convert to renewable energy has the potential to cost us big in the long-term.Over 7 years ago
