The name of my book was Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings. This book is about a young boy named Brady, who has a pretty normal life so far. His dad is a crabber and he helps his dad with his work sometimes. Then one day his neighbors, the DiAngelos, go out on a river and their kayak that they're on sinks. Mrs. DiAngelo survives, but her son, Ben, dies. Brady is depressed but soon finds out that his friends were involved. He struggles with his decision on wether to tell the police or keep his friends safe. I think this book is a great realistic fiction book and I recommend it to anyone. The book has tons of detail, an interesting plot and always makes you want to read more of it. Also the book can be read by a variety of people. This book is realistic fiction because there are no high tech objects or different societies, it's just regular things that could all happen in real life. I think any audiences out there ten and up should read this book, because first of all, personally I don't read a lot,but this book kept me reading it everyday. Secondly, it doesn't focus on a single topic, there are all sorts of things happening, as opposed to a book all about a kid who play football. The reason it is ten and up is because people under ten probably won't understand the book as well. There are some conflicts in this story. One internal conflict is when Brady is deciding to tell the police about what his friends did or say nothing. That was a man vs. self conflict. One external conflict is when Brady's Dad has to put some crabs back in the water according to the law, and that's making them lose money. This is a man vs. society conflict. As I said before this is a great book and I think you should find some time to read it.
