The more I look into this, the clearer it becomes that it should be Indigenous Peoples' Day. Christopher Columbus definitely shouldn't be one of only two people to have any American holiday named after him. He was extremely violent, made a business of slavery, and never set foot on this continent -- and that's just the tip of the iceberg of reasons. The reasons are so compelling that just about anyone who wants to can replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples' Day in their city by educating their community leaders..
