patricky's book review was featured in Being Bad: My Baby Brother and the School-to-Prison Pipeline (Teaching for Social Justice Series) (Teaching for Social Justice (Paperback)).
In this book, the author is focusing on the issue of social issues in the world like in schools. Everywhere in the world, there is social injustice, especially against people of different skin colors. Chris, a kid who was known as a bad kid by others, is the main focus of the story, and the reader will learn about the social issues with different people during that time. The best part of the book is how the author describes their lives while also showing the readers the social issues that are happening in many places. After reading this book, I learned about the history of African-American teenager's social world and their insights. Overall, I would recommend this book to others who are reading books about social issue or needed information on that topic.Over 8 years agopatricky added a book review.

This book is talking about Earth that had just gone through an alien apocalypse. Cassie is just a normal teenager, but the first four waves of the alien invasion changed her life. After plagues, tsunamis, earthquakes, everyone that's left live in a world of danger and no one can be trusted. I like this book because the author described the surroundings in detail and described it so that we can feel it had been through something terrible. My favorite character in the book is Zombie, or Ben Parish because he is trained as a soldier to kill "aliens" along with hundreds of other teenagers, and the author talked about his harsh training and how he still endured it. He also has a likeable personality and is caring to other smaller members. I would recommend this book to others who enjoy science fiction books or is just looking for a novel to read. I would rate this book 4.8/5 stars.Over 8 years agopatricky added a book review.
This book is the second book to the "The 5th wave" book series. In this book, Cassie, Ben, and others are searching around the remaining humans for allies, but it was hard to trust anyone anymore after the 5th wave. I like the way the characters interacted with each others like how Ringer talks to Teacup by sometimes scolding her but still cares about her. I also liked the fight scene when they used cool sci-fi weapons like alien bombs or other advanced technology. While reading the book, I feel that I can sometimes relate to Nugget because he was in an unfamiliar face and is scared. Sometimes when I go to summer camps, I might feel nervous or even scared because I don't know anyone there and don't know what to expect of them, so I feel that I can relate that part to Nugget, or Cassie's brother. I would recommend this book to others who liked the first book "The 5th wave" and I would rate it 4.5/5 stars.Over 8 years agopatricky added a book review.
This book is the second book of the Skulduggery Pleasant series and in this book, Valkyrie (Stephanie) and Skulduggery are trying to stop Baron Vengeous from being dark evil gods back to the world. While reading this book, there are parts where it's funny and there are parts where its sad, and I liked how the author wrote the conversations of the characters. I also liked how the author made the book unpredictable and added surprising events, so when I was reading the book, I didn't expect those events or endings. I think Valkyrie is like the character Harry Potter from the Harry Potter series because in the beginning Harry doesn't know a lot of magic but still manages to defeat Voldemort or his minions several times, and even though Valkyrie isn't very powerful, she still beats Baron Vengeous and Dusk by outwitting and tricking them. I would recommend this book to people who enjoyed the first book Skulduggery Pleasant and would rate it 5/5 stars.Over 8 years agopatricky's book review was featured in Skulduggery Pleasant.
This is the third book in the "Skulduggery Pleasant" series and in this book Valkyrie and Skulduggery are trying to find out who is killing the Teleporters and planning to bring back the dark gods. In this book, I liked how the author added a mysterious and creepy feeling in some parts and like the other books in this series, you can't guess who and what will happen next. When I finished the book, I was very surprised to find out who was actually the bad guys because like I said, the author made it very unpredictable. I also liked how the author sometimes used a chapter to show us the conversations of the antagonists so we can know what's going on for the antagonists and what they are planning, because some other books might just be talking about the main character and we won't even have a clue who or what the antagonists are and what they are doing. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend this book to others who like magic and would rate it 5/5 stars.Over 8 years agopatricky added a book review.
